Legia to host FIFA 17 tournament. PSG, S04, Man. City and more invited
Legia Warsaw will host an esports tournament called Legia eSports Cup 2016. It will feature a few games, but the most important will be FIFA 17. Players of e.g. Paris Saint-Germain, Schalke 04 and Manchester City will take part in the FIFA 17 and compete for a prize pool of €3 500.
The tournament will be held on Łazienkowska 3, where Legia’s stadium is located, on November 5-6. Legia have invited seven teams to the tournament: Paris Saint-Germain, Manchester City, Ajax Amsterdam, Schalke 04, VfL Wolfsburg, Valencia CF and Sporting Club de Portugal. Legia will also be represented by their players, but they are yet to reveal who will play under Legia’s banner.
According to Wiktor Cegła’s, director of marketing at Legia Warsaw, statement, Legia have been in talks with other sport clubs about investing in esports for a long time. After all that effort, they are finally here with their Legia eSports Cup 2016. During the event workshop with delegates of mentioned clubs will also be held.
The tournament will be the first step of Legia in esports. Later on Polish club will also reveal their further esports strategy. It’s said that they will sign players from a few different scenes.
